To oversee the financial matters of the church and to keep the congregation informed of its finances. Our goal is to be good stewards of the congregation’s gifts to God, and to encourage stewardship in all areas of ministry and missions.
“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it – lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’?” (Luke 14.28-30)
General Responsibilities
- Oversee the receipt and expenditures of the church
- Request, develop and seek approval of the annual budget
- Review and implement finance policy
- Develop the annual budget, and monitor the income and expenditures of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church
- Ensure that all financial practices are in good order
